serial killer aileen Wournos
(I’m sorry, I know I keep going on about serial killers, but for some reason, I’m interested in their stories, in why they kill, in their lives and their childhoods. (I think it happened when I saw COPYCAT. I know it’s creepy, but I just cannot help it.))
A few days ago I saw “MONSTER” staring Charlize Zeron and Christina Ricci, and I wondered about Aileen Wornos. By the way, if you haven’t seen the film I recommend it, and especially because Charlize Zeron’s interpretation does deserve an Oscar.
For anyone who doesn’t know who I’m talking about, Aileen was a prostitute who turned into a serial killer and was sentenced to death by lethal injection in 2002. She killed seven men in first degree and robbery.
After watching the film I wondered if she was a down to earth person or if she had completely lost her marbles when she started to kill, so I went to youtube and found some videos where some gal called Nick interviewed her. I concluded she was completely nuts.
Here are some of the extracts that prove the evidence.
“I’m OK. God is gonna be there, Jesus Christ is gonna be there, all the angels and everything… and, you know, whatever’s on the beyond (…) whatever’s the beyond I know it’s gonna be good because I didn’t do anything as wrong as they said, I did the right thing, and I saved lots of people’s butts from getting hurt, and raped and killed too”.
“Ok, let’s say the cops were following you and they did everything you said they did. None the less, you killed seven men”
“Yeah, sure did”
“I’m asking you what got you to kill the seven men”
“And I’m telling you, because the cops let me keep killing, Nick don’t you get it?”
“I couldn’t even get a fair trial, couldn’t even get a fair investigation or nothing.”
“Ok, I cannot go to the execution chamber and die in the execution chamber as a lier, and I cannot go to the execution chamber and be executed under the devil. I have to come clean and cleanse my spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. (…) I have to tell the world the lies that went on through my mouth (she is interrupted) I gotta come clean that I killed those seven men in first degree murder and robbery. They got it right, serial killer. Not so much like thrill kill… I was into the robbing business. I mean, serial killers are into this thrill killing, I was into the robbing and eliminated witness.”
“And so when you met them, from the beginning, did you know that you were going to kill them when they picked you up in their cars?”
“I… pretty much… I pretty much had them selected that they were gonna die.”
“So there was no self defence?”
“No, there was no self defence.”
“To me this world is none but evil, and all of us are full of evil, one way or another. (…) My evil just happened to come out because of the circumstances and what I was doing: hitch hiking, hooking on the road, I was a homeless person all my life. (…) And so learning to be a hooker as a hitch hiker eventually got ?? in the end I carried the gun for protection. But then I got Rose getting a real problem with our rent, was due twelve hundred dollars behind. She was doing a lot of beer drinking and stuff, she wanted to go out all the time, she was burning all the money I was making”
“Did she know what you were doing?”
“Oh, yeah, she always knew what I was doing.”
“I am really sorry about everything I did. I miss Tyra, I lost Tyra over this. And then the people who lost their loved ones… I really think first about the people who lost their loved ones and I second. And I have to put them first on this whole thing. I’m really sorry…”
“Nick, and this is the last time I’ll say it; you have to kill Aileen Wuornos ‘cause she’ll kill again.”
I really don’t know what I want to prove with this; maybe just that all serial killers are totally mad.
Now there’s a question: can someone like this reintegrate in society and behave as if nothing happened? Are there psychology treatments efficient enough to be able to turn this person into someone normal?
Because, in theory, prisons have to rehabilitate people into society and they have to punish them for their bad behaviour. Some States in USA seem to think this is impossible and that is why they have death penalties…
But I’m not going to explain my point of view about that now. Not yet.
